What brings a tear of joy to your eye?
As someone deeply passionate about both fashion and teaching, the moments that truly bring a tear of joy to my eye are often the simplest yet most heartfelt. One of the most touching experiences for me is when a little child, with all their innocence and sincerity, looks up at me and says, “You look so beautiful.” It’s not just the compliment itself that moves me, but the pure admiration behind it. In that moment, I realize how much of an impact something as small as my outfit or the way I present myself can have on someone so young. It’s a reminder that the way we choose to express ourselves through fashion can inspire and uplift others, even when we’re not aware of it.
Another experience that deeply moves me is when young girls, usually around the age of 13, come up to me and say, “When I grow up, I want to dress like you.” That statement, coming from someone who is just beginning to explore their own identity, means the world to me. At that age, girls are often searching for role models, people they can look up to for inspiration, not just in fashion, but in confidence, self-expression, and independence. Hearing them say that they want to emulate my style makes me feel honored, but also responsible. I want to show them that fashion isn’t just about following trends, but about being true to yourself and expressing who you are on the inside.
These moments of connection remind me why I’m so passionate about what I do. Fashion has always been more than just clothes for me—it’s a way of communicating, a form of art, and a means of self-expression. Whether it’s through teaching or through my blog, I aim to inspire others to embrace their individuality. And knowing that I’m able to have that impact, especially on the younger generation, fills me with a deep sense of joy and fulfillment.
Being a role model for these young girls is both a privilege and a responsibility. It motivates me to continue sharing my passion for fashion in a way that encourages others to embrace their uniqueness. The idea that someone can look at me and say, “I want to be like that,” is not just flattering—it’s a reminder of the positive influence we can have on others simply by being authentic.
In the end, it’s these small but profound interactions that make everything worthwhile. They reaffirm my belief in the power of fashion, not just as a way to look good, but as a way to inspire, connect, and make the world a little brighter. Every time a child or a young girl expresses their admiration, it brings a tear of joy to my eye, because I know that in some small way, I’ve touched their lives.
