Real Girl Diaries- Episode 31 ☕️ The “Emotional Loop” Manifesto: Why I’m a Serial Story-Dweller 📽️📖

It’s the “One More Time” theory: the story doesn’t change, but I do.

I have a confession to make. It’s not that I’ve had four cups of coffee before noon (that’s just a biological requirement at this point). It’s that I am a serial “repeater.”

You know how some people finish a book, say, “Well, that was a lovely journey through the human psyche,” and then just… move on? Could I BE any more different? If I love a story, I don’t just move on. I move in. I pack my bags, set up a tent, and wait for the characters to notice I’ve stayed for the third time this week.

As an English teacher, I tell my students to “deeply analyze the text.” What I actually mean is: “Please join me in this obsessive spiral where we find a new life-altering message in every single semicolon.”

The Permanent Residents of My Brain:

• Gilmore Girls: My ultimate “security blanket.” I’ve watched it so many times I’m basically the unofficial third Gilmore girl. I’m just waiting for my invite to Friday Night Dinner so I can make a sarcastic comment and get kicked out by Emily. It’s 10% plot and 90% me wishing I lived in a town where the biggest crisis is a missing hay bale.

• Friends: Could this show be any more classic? It’s the background noise of my soul. I’ve reached the point where I can predict Chandler’s jokes before he even makes them. It’s my comfort zone where everyone is caffeinated and no one actually knows what Chandler does for a living.

• Delibal (or “Wild Honey”): My cinematic “unstable-but-beautiful” obsession. I re-watch this when I need a reminder that love can be as sweet as honey and just as dangerous. It’s the cinematic equivalent of “I’m not crying, you’re crying.” For the record, the English version exists and it’s just as devastating in any language. 🎸🥀

• Mavi Saçlı Kız: My literary North Star. Burçak’s story is so raw and real. I keep coming back to it, searching for that one sentence that explains life. Even though it hasn’t been officially translated into a “Girl with Blue Hair” global bestseller yet, I’m basically doing the work of an unpaid PR agent for this book every single day.

The Real MVPs: My Friends.

And then there are the people. My inner circle. If you’re my friend, congratulations, you’ve been “re-read” more than a Shakespearean sonnet. I’m a Cancer rising with a Gemini Venus, loyalty is my middle name, but variety is my spice. I love the people who have layers, the ones I can talk to for the thousandth time and still find a new “vibe” to obsess over.

So, if you see me re-watching Gilmore Girls while clutching Mavi Saçlı Kız, just know I’m not stuck, I’m just doing “re-research.”

Current Status: Ignoring my “To-Read” pile to go hang out with Lorelai and Rory again. Don’t judge me. 🌙✨☕️
