The Price of Curating Your Own Life (What Have I Sacrificed?)
Life can look completely effortless from the outside, canβt it? The timed morning workouts, the curated daily life loads, and the details that take actual precision to perfect. Add to that a busy teaching career where you’re constantly on, and it all looks like a beautifully paced, 15-second aesthetic transition on Instagram.
But letβs be entirely real for a second, because being the absolute curator of your own life and holding yourself to uncompromising standards comes with a hidden receipt.
Lately, Iβve been reflecting on a heavy but necessary question, what have I actually sacrificed to become the woman I am today?
If Iβm laying it all out in the diary, here is the invisible price tag of choosing not to be ordinary.
1. The Easy Comfort of a “Passive” Life
A lot of people live in the comfortable safety of the drift. If they don’t feel like working out, they hit snooze. If their routine gets slightly inconvenient, they drop it. They reach a point where things are “good enough,” and they coast.
I have never known how to do that. I am so fiercely loyal to the idea of becoming my ultimate self that I fedaβd (sacrifice but in turkish βcause it suits better. you know what i mean if youβre a bilingual person, too.) the luxury of a lazy morning and the comfort of a casual, unbothered lifestyle. Discipline is the ultimate enemy of a soft comfort zone (which is my favorite thing), and I am TRYING to choose discipline every single day. Even if itβs too hard sometimes as a young woman. Because sometimes I just wanna have fun. π
2. The Weight of an Un-switched-off Mind
In my world, absolutely nothing is “just whatever.” Whether it’s the specific theme of a lesson plan, managing the overwhelming daily life loads, or the exact framing of a blog post, everything gets an intense amount of mental curation.
While this sharp aesthetic eye looks sleek from the outside, the internal cost is a mind that literally never stops running. Iβve definitely sacrificed that effortless, spontaneous lightness of just doing things on a whim without overthinking the execution.
3. The “People-Pleasing” Safety Net
When you have rock-solid boundaries, know exactly what you want, and refuse to compromise on your vision, the immediate tax you pay is leaving certain people and environments behind.
Iβve had to ruthlessly cut out dynamics that drain my energy, drag me down, or simply exist to fill space. I refused to dilute who I am just to be relatable or universally liked. The price for that is a much tighter, more exclusive inner circle and moments of total independence, meaning I sacrificed the comfortable safety of fitting in to protect my own peace and authenticity.
At the end of the day, when I open my wardrobe, sit down to write these episodes, or look at the woman standing tall in the mirror, I whisper to myself that people who take the easy path write ordinary stories. Iβd rather hold the brush and paint my own canvas, even if the paint costs a little more.
this is just basic version of what i feel thoughβ¦
Current Mood: Reflective, focused, unapologetically stepping into my power for the week ahead.
Current Listening: Never Say Never by Justin Bieber (because sometimes you just need that nostalgic, unstoppable energy on repeat).
